Welcome to our "Little Potters: Introduction to Handbuilding" class—a creative journey into the world of clay designed just for kids! In this hands-on class, young artists will discover the joy and magic of pottery without the need for a potter's wheel. We'll explore the fundamental techniques of handbuilding, which include pinching, coiling, and slab construction, to create a variety of fun and functional pottery pieces.

Class Overview: Our Little Potters class is perfect for children aged 7-12 and is geared towards sparking creativity, building confidence, and developing fine motor skills. Each session is carefully structured to be engaging and educational while ensuring that every child feels comfortable and excited to express their individuality through clay.

What We'll Do:

• Pinch Pots: We'll start with the basics of making pinch pots, where kids will learn to shape their very own bowls or animals using just their fingers.
• Coil Creations: Next, we'll roll out snakes of clay and layer them to build up forms like vases, cups, or even fantastical creatures.
• Slab Projects: Using flat sheets of clay, we'll cut out shapes to assemble into boxes, houses, or tiles that the kids can decorate with stamps and textures.
• Glazing Glory: Once their pieces are bisque-fired, kids will return to glaze their creations, choosing from a rainbow of colors to add that final, shiny touch.

Class Details:

• Duration: 4 weeks, with one 90-minute session per week for 3 weeks. Week 4 the session will be a 120-minute session. This session will be used to glaze our creations. 
• All materials, including clay, tools, and glazes, are provided.
• Finished pieces will be glazed and fired, ready for pickup within 2 weeks after the last class.
• Small class sizes to ensure personalized attention for each little potter.
